Well it has been a long time since I've posted anything. And even the last post was a bit lazy... All I really did was dig up some shots from a holiday album and slap in some text... Unfortunately this post isn't much different in that regard HOWEVER it is one of my main excuses for not posting anything. Here is the first half of my finals submission!! Finals in what you say? Well now, I had been working on the finals for my diploma in photography for almost a year. That's right!! I did a diploma and I passed too!! So now I'm qualified to look down my nose at any photos you send me!! Anyway, the theme was 'hands' and I had to submit 6. Here are the first 3, I'm saving the next 3 for another post!!
OH MY! FISHEYE!
So I hit the big THREE OH this year and was quite thrilled to get a Lensbaby Scout with Fisheye optic from my In-Laws as a present. Now although most of my friends will be thinking thats one more lens for a guy with more kit than sense, I've taken quite a liking to the lil fella. Sometimes I even leave the rest of the kit at home, other than the body that is. Anyway, this blog, which hopefully I pay more attention to than my last, is pretty much a journal of my adventures with my fisheye lens!

Mayuce Gilden
So I was talking to a mate at work who is also interested in photography and he told me about Bruce Gilden, a magnum photographer from NYC. Basically he's a legend. Anyhoo, I watched this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkIWW6vwrvM) of him and tried to do the same at a mate's wedding reception. For those of you TOO LAZY to clink on the link and watch the video, he basically takes photos of people from less than a meter without them posing or anything. He also uses a flash. Anyway, here are some of the results.
Here's a link to his portfolio on Magnum (http://www.magnumphotos.com/C.aspx?VP3=CMS3&VF=MAGO31_10_VForm&ERID=24KL53ZS6V). Why give you a link that you could have googled if you were interested? well I needed to put some text before the next photo to maintain the 'flow' of the post... yeah, that's right!!!

The Monk
Recently went to Malaysia for a friend's wedding and saw this chap in a Reggae bar. He was sipping beer, enjoying a cigarette and shooting some pool. Sounds like a typical day for me at uni. minus the beer and smokes, didnt have any money for that!! Maybe I should have become a monk instead, people were paying for his drinks and the pool game...

Streets of Amsterdam
Went to Amsterdam early in January. With some friends. Didn't do the usual touristy stuff like Van Gogh of Anne Frank's house, just walked around, had a few drinks, ate some food and took some photos.

More Street Shots
So here are some pictures from my second attempt at taking some street shots. I've also started taking film photos again! Bought some black and white film the week before last but it'll be a while before I get any photos developed.

Biscuit House Bake Off
Ever since watching the Masterchef episode with the gingerbread houses, I have wanted to have a go. So last Christmas I challenged Martin to a ‘biscuit house bakeoff’ for their annual xmas party. ‘Biscuit house’ because I’m not that big a fan of gingerbread and wasn’t really keen on eating that much once it was all done. Martin because no one else has the right balance of craziness, competitiveness and interest in baking.
The base was a mocha biscotti, the walls were cardamom short bread and the roof was white chocolate and pistachio biscotti coated in dark chocolate and flake. Nom nom nom indeed!!

Who won? I think I did. Mainly because Martin didn't hassle me about losing!!
